Memorial Museum Perlé

WELCOME TO 385BG MUSEUM

The 385BG museum is a great collection of WWII related equipment, specialized in US Army Air Force and B-17 aircraft. Equipment and uniforms, donated by veterans, give a detailed insight view of the life of a WWII aviator.
A wide range of manuals, documents, reports, photos, film material and other publications are available to portray the history of air war over Luxembourg and throughout Europe.
An additional collection of equipment, reports and documents related to the local WWII history retraces the events and tells the story of civilians and soldiers during the war.

OUR HISTORY

Our Beginnings

It all began when Mr. Roger Feller (†) started a private collection after discovering parts of B-17's while building his own house in Wolwelange in March 1994.
As His first private exhibition turned out to be a great success, he came up with the idea to create a museum dedicated to the 385th Bomb Group of the US Army Air Corps.
In 1997, under the lead of Mr. Feller and the former Mayor of the Municipality of Rambrouch, Mr. Ferdinand Unsen (†), plans came up for a monument dedicated to eighteen airmen who lost their lives in a midair collision of two B17’s over Perlé on July 12th, 1944.
For the dedication ceremony of the monument, the Municipality donated three rooms in the former school building of Perlé to set up a small exhibition with Roger’s collection of parts of the two B-17 Bombers.
With great support of the US Army Forces in Europe, the dedication of the monument held on the 21st of June 1998 knew an outstanding success and veterans of the 385th Bombardment Group attended the event.
The exhibition, first to be shown for the dedication ceremony only, soon grew and many interesting parts showed up and donations completed the collection.
The collection was then installed for permanent display and the museum was born.
